As the Team Leader for our recovery housing service, you will provide strong, visible operational leadership and direct line management to the teams responsible for the delivery of the Birmingham & Worcester housing provision.

Our staff teams provide housing and recovery support to people who have a history of substance and/or alcohol issues engaging with CGL and Cranstoun Substance Misuse Services and who are experiencing accommodation problems. You will create a culture to support the ethos of the organisation and provide values based, clear, and passion driven operational leadership to your teams.

Alongside the Housing Manager, you will take responsibility for the overall health and safety of the properties and the health and wellbeing of tenants, ensuring we are offering both opportunistic and structured interventions.

What you will be doing:

  • Holding managerial responsibility for the staff within your team to ensure a skill mix and ensure robust systems are in place for general and clinical supervision.
  • Managing all employee relations (HR) issues within your team and support the recruitment, induction and training of staff and professional volunteers.
  • Together with the Housing Manager and Regional Administrator, supporting the financial management of petty cash, systems, rent collection and housing benefit payments including liaison with the Local Authority to ensure benefit claims are submitted and processed efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensuring Birmingham & Worcetser services are accurately reported through the relevant systems, e.g. INFORM.
  • Implementing and managing systems to ensure residents are safe, meaningfully engaged and moving forward in their lives.

Some of the skills, knowledge and experience you will have

  • Experience of managing complex needs, substance misuse and/or housing services.
  • An excellent understanding of boundaries, confidentiality, and risk.
  • Excellent all-round communication skills and the ability to manage relationships.
  • Experience of managing, developing, and supporting staff in a challenging and demanding environment.
  • Experience of providing a range of evidence-based interventions to individuals affected by substance misuse and/or offending.
  • IT skills including the ability to use Microsoft Office Applications.
