Nichola is a lecturer in Criminology at Sheffield Hallam University, where she is responsible for supporting student employability through placements, careers insights and helping students to recognise their strengths and skills. She also works as a freelance consultant. Much of her recent work has been supporting health and social care needs assessments for prisons on behalf of NHS England. Her earlier career in practice saw her working as a substance misuse commissioner, volunteer mentor coordinator and programme lead for a national peer research project working with women in prison and on community orders. She has always been passionate about recognising the inherent skills and values in everyone and the need to work with people as individuals where they are at.
