EF launches new service in partnership with WithYou

Two people sit together at a low table in a living room, reviewing paperwork and writing on large sheets of paper. One person holds a coloured pen while the other points to documents on the table. Coloured pencils and additional pens are visible nearby, with a sofa, fireplace and home furnishings in the background. The scene appears to show collaborative planning, learning or support activity in a relaxed, residential setting.

A new partnership with We Are With You will strengthen peer-led recovery support before and after release, helping people build lasting connections within their communities.

We are pleased to announce a new two-year pilot programme in partnership with We Are With You, designed to strengthen recovery support for people before and after their release from prison.

Individuals leaving prison often face multiple and complex challenges, including support needs around drug and alcohol addiction, homelessness, and a lack of access to essential community support.

As part of the service, Emerging Futures staff will work across HMP Lincoln and HMP North Sea Camp, providing support before and after release to help build sustainable recovery networks and maintain positive progress within the community. It will create opportunities for connection and community involvement. Promoting stability, wellbeing and positive long-term recovery outcomes.

Working alongside prison teams, treatment providers, recovery communities and local organisations, Emerging Futures colleagues will support people to develop personalised plans for their transition into the community. This includes helping people access drug and alcohol treatment, health and wellbeing services, education, training, volunteering opportunities and wider community support.

This partnership represents an exciting opportunity to explore and learn from new approaches that make recovery support more accessible, visible and sustainable for people both in custody and after release.

Emerging Futures Area Service Manager Katie Barnes said;

“We’re thrilled to be working on this new pilot with We Are With You. At Emerging Futures, we believe in giving people the support they need with making the right changes in their lives to thrive in the community.

People leaving prison are often left with little or no support, and this new project will ensure that people discharged from the criminal justice system don’t have to do this alone.”

Over the next two years, Emerging Futures and We Are With You will work together to understand the impact of this approach and use learning from the pilot to help shape future recovery support.
