International Women’s Day 2026

A person with light hair tied back sits on a dark blue sofa, arms folded, wearing a sleeveless top and shorts. A tattoo is visible on their arm, and light from a nearby window brightens the room.

Breaking Cycles. Finding Strength. Choosing her future.

As we mark International Women’s Day on Sunday 8th March, we’re taking a moment to spotlight the strength, courage and determination shown every day by the women we support across Emerging Futures. Today, we’re proud to share a powerful short video created with Ruth*, a resident in one of our women only housing projects.

This is her story.

Ruth’s story is a reminder of what recovery can look like when someone is given safety, stability and the space to rebuild. Her journey reflects the reality that recovery isn’t a straight line, it’s a series of choices, steps forward, setbacks, and moments of clarity. And with the right support around her, Ruth has found the confidence to choose a different path and take ownership of her future.

Thank you to everyone involved in supporting our women’s projects and ensuring they remain places of safety, dignity and hope. And a special thank you to Ruth for bravely choosing to share her story to inspire others.
