Addiction affects everyone BUT recovery is possible
It’s Addiction Awareness Week and we’re helping to share messages of hope from people who have been there and know what it’s like.
The campaign from Taking Action on Addiction aims to dispel the stigma surrounding addiction and encourage people to seek help as early as possible.
We want those who are struggling to know there is hope and change is waiting. Please reach out and take it.

We’ve been there and we know what it’s like
The people in this video have a combined 74 years and five months in recovery.
If you’re struggling with addiction, I want you to know…
We asked some of our workforce, if they could say one thing to someone struggling with addiction, what would you want them to know? Here’s what they said…
Hayden Duncan, Operations Director.
“You are not alone. Every person in recovery felt there was no way out, nobody understood and there was no future. They now know that everything can change. Have courage, talk to others who have been there. Cry, shout, mumble, garble. Just talk.”
David Dakan, Senior Family & Community Worker.
“You are not alone and there is a life worth living for you too. I celebrated 16 years in recovery this month. If I can do it, so can you.”
Emma Grant, Service Administrator.
“To please ask for help. You are not alone.”
Ricky Holder, Housing Manager.
“Addiction doesn’t need to be your end story, as I once thought it was mine. Choose your path and let us walk with you to make the changes you want.”
Helen Mount, Service Administrator.
“You are not alone. Our behaviour change workshops can provide you with the tools and support to review and change the way you behave around your addiction and other parts of your life. If you engage with the support available, this can really make a positive change.”
Carrie Hall, Marketing & Communications Officer.
“There is hope, and change is waiting. Please reach out and take it.”
